"Stripe! Where are you?
Mother Tiger called for
her striped cub,
Stripe! Get here at once
Are you hiding
behind that shrub?"
Page 2
"Are you chasing
butterflies again
You dreamy little tiger?
Or have you gone
down to the pond
Where all the
little ones linger?"
Page 3
Mother Tiger was
becoming really hot…
But where was Stripe?
Was he hiding indeed?
Or was he just being
a little gripe?
Page 4
Let's look around...
Who's up that tree?
Is that a tail,
are those whiskers
Ooooh, what a mystery...
Page 5
It's Stripe indeed,
the little rascal
And oh, oh! He is fast asleep.
What's that around his mouth?
And all over his whiskers,
let's take a peep...
Page 6
It's mango juice and
mango pulp
The chap's been at it again,
He loves to eat mangoes
And can sometimes
eat up to ten.
What! A tiger eating
mangoes you say…
Well, it's true for
sure with Stripe,
He loves the yellow juicy fruit
And sometimes doesn't
even wait till its ripe.
Page 7
You have got to see him
Stalking mangoes
on the offshoots,
It would put any
big cat to shame
His skill with hunting
the king of fruits.
Page 8
One day all his friends
hatched a plan
"Let's take away all
the mangoes," they said.
They were all in it together
"Let's make him eat some
tiger chow, instead."
Page 9
So the Monkey twins climbed
up the trees
And plucked all the mangoes
they could find,
Tossing them down to
Rocko Rhino and Blippo Hippo
While Ellie Elephant and
Gina Giraffe stood behind.
Page 10
And they put them
all in a basket
Looking around for
a place to hide,
The basket with its juicy load
"I know just the place,"
Gina cried.
Page 11
She took them to
the tallest tree
And showed them
a branch that forked,
A perfect place to
hide a basket
"He'll find it in a trice,"
Ellie joked.
Page 12
When Stripe came
out that morning
Looking for his
favorite juicy snack,
He couldn't find a single one
He was very taken aback.
Page 13
There were plenty on
the branches yesterday
And now I can't find even one,
The ripe ones are
missing for sure
But where are the rest,
the green ones that need
some more sun?
Oh what shall I do?
I haven't a mango to eat,
What will I do all day?
Where's my daily treat?"
Page 14
"A mango's no big thing
to ask for
Who's the vile one who's
taken them all,
Couldn't he have left
one for me?
After all that's no order, tall."
Page 15
His friends giggled and shook
Standing behind a large tree,
He had it coming,
this little tiger
Now mangoes
everyday are history.
Where's he going? What's he
sniffing at?
Look he's taking a walk,
Why's he holding his nose
up in the air
Hey, is that tiger in shock?
Page 16
No, Stripe can smell
something for sure
Something very
familiar and nice,
A tiger's nose is a
wonderful thing
It can smell far and wide,
in a trice
Page 17
"Let's follow him and
see where he goes
Look he's turning
this way and that,
I think he can smell
the mangoes we hid
Oh, that clever black
and orange brat."
Page 18
There he's heading for
the very tree
And look at that tiger smile,
He knows there
are mangoes here
And he doesn't have
to walk a mile."
Page 19
Looking up, he springs
like a cat
And climbs up limb after limb,
There he's got to the basket
And he's coming down,
sure as a fish can swim.
Page 20
"There he's setting
his basket down
And oh no, he's
heading our way,
What shall we say to him?
He'll know even if
we say 'Nay!'"
Page 21
"Oh Stripe! we are really sorry
We hid the mangoes
you love, so much,
We thought it befit not
A tiger eating mangoes,
like a lion eating spinach."
"Well, don't do it again,
I love my mangoes, I do,
And now you can join
me for a mango feast
I bear no grudges,
against any of you."
Page 22
There's an animal
tot party on
And what's the
menu over here?
Mangoes, yellow and green,
big and small
I am sure, you have never
heard that one before,
for sure!
