Crash! Bang! Thud! Ooooow!
What is that noise?
Ellie the Elephant
looks up and says
"Hey! I know that voice!"
Crash! Bang! Thud! Ooooow!
What's happening all around?
Rocko Rhino's
trying to take a nap
What is that terribly
loud sound?
Page 2
Crash! Bang! Thud! Ooooow!
Who's taking a mighty fall?
Won't you let a buddy read
Says Blippo Hippo to you all.
Crash! Bang! Thud! Ooooow!
That sounded very
close to me
Gina the Giraffe
stretches her neck out
Was that somebody falling
off a tree?
Page 3
Indeed it was,
not one but two fellows
And now they are lying
in a heap
They are knocked out
Almost as if they were asleep.
Page 4
"Ellie bring some water
in your trunk
You are not going to
believe this,
It's the monkey twins
lying here
You wouldn't want to
give this a miss."
"The monkey twins?
Falling from trees?
Now whoever heard of that?
Monkeys are lithe
and surefooted
And can swing
better than a bat."
Page 5
"Pour water on these two
And let's listen to their tale…
What up you guys,
you gave us a fright
Tell us now, every detail."
Page 6
"We don't know
what happened
We were swinging high up
there for sure,
He challenged me and I
challenged him
But we have done this so
many times before.
All of a sudden we were falling
Tumbling down through the air,
And then through branches
and leaves
Oh we had
such a terrible scare."
Page 7
"This has never
happened to us
You know how we
monkeys are,
Climbing, jumping, swinging,
monkeying around
And never falling,
oh it's bizarre"
"Well, well,
now get up you two
And be careful, if you will.
This is surely
monkey business
It's brought things
to a standstill."
Page 8
But that is not the end
of this tale
Involving not one but two
long-tailed fellows,
For it happened again and
again and again
It shocked the rhinos,
the elephants and the hippos
Page 9
Even the giraffe family
could not take
The monkey twins falling
like ninepins,
From trees, from ledges,
from rocks
They were sprawled
everywhere,
right on their chins.
Page 10
Why were they falling now
When they had never
done it before?
These were two
sure-footed lads
Actually more surefooted
than many more.…
Page 11
Didn't they pride themselves
on being able
To climb and swing
from anywhere?
Tall trees, high ledges,
big rocks.
Nothing was out of reach,
not even the tiger's lair!
Page 12
So what was wrong now?
There they go again.
Oh my, these monkeys
are falling
As if they were rain.
Page 13
It's surely not monkey tricks
They have got cuts,
bruises and sores,
Their mother is so worried
She doesn't let them
come outdoors.
Page 14
Another day dawns…
Is it going to be full
of more monkey tricks?
Rocko, Gina, Blippo
and Ellie wait
For their friends as they
play with some bricks...
Page 15
Here come those two,
I hope the ailment's gone,
I heard that Mrs. Monkey
had taken them to the doc
Oh, they are looking
very forlorn.
Page 16
"Hi! How are you guys today?"
"Do we look okay to you?
It's very bad, what's
been happening
It's worse than
getting the flu."
Page 17
There they go walking,
their heads down
Oh it's a real shame,
They were really bright,
active monkeys
Quite living up to their name.
Page 18
Look out;
you are walking right
up to that dangerous ledge
"Can't you hear us?"
Ellie and Blippo yell
"Hey, you two, look up,
you can't fall now
Down there is a really
deep well."
Page 19
Oh no, there they go,
they have fallen in
All the others rush to the edge,
And lo and behold,
two monkeys swinging
From ledge to ledge to ledge...
Page 20
Thank god, they are
back to normal
Thank god, they are
monkeys again,
They gave us such a fright
We thought they would have
to be fished out by
the zebra firemen...
Page 21
Come up you two, it's nice
to see you swing though
How did you get
your skill back?
"We have no idea, none at all
Maybe it was the shock that
brought back the knack."
Page 22
Well that's one
unsolved mystery
But no one is
complaining for sure,
The monkeys are back to
more monkey business
And things are back to what
they were like before."
