Owl lived at the top of a tall tree. She liked to bake by the light of the moon. Pies were her favorite food to bake.
Page 2
Fox was out for a midnight walk. He was hungry. "Pies?" he sniffed. "Do I smell pies?"
Page 3
Owl placed some fresh pies by the window. "That was a lot of work," she said. "I think I'll take a nap."
Page 4
Fox could see the pies at the top of the tree. He started to climb.
Page 5
When Fox was half the way up he looked down. "Oh no!" he said. But he kept going up, up, and up.
Page 6
Fox finally made it to the top. There he saw all the wonderful pies. Fox was very hungry.
Page 7
He reached to touch the pies. But they were hot! He lost his balance. Fox and the pies fell.
Page 8
"OUCH!" yelled Fox as he bumped through the branches. Down, down, down he went.
Page 9
Owl heard the noise and woke up. "Oh my," she said as she looked out her window.
Page 10
Fox was on the ground. His body was sore and he was covered in gooey pie.
Page 11
Owl flew down. "You didn't have to steal," she said. "I would have given you some pie."
Page 12
Fox tasted the sticky fruit. "The pies are yummy," he said. "I'm sorry I tried to steal them."
Page 13
Fox cleaned himself off. Then he and Owl had some pie.
Page 14
Now whenever Owl bakes, she always has help. Fox smells, touches and, best of all, tastes every pie!
