Once there was a woman who lived
in the palace of the great king.
She was the king's sister and very much looked
forward to the day she could be queen.
Page 2
However, the king had a beautiful daughter who was the fairest of all the girls and the nicest of all the people.
Her name was Snow-White. She was young and had a lot to learn about the ways of the generous kingdom, but she had a natural love for others and enjoyed caring for her family.
Page 3
The king's sister worked hard to please her family and friends and her efforts were always appreciated.
Page 4
In her room she kept a secret
mirror and every night before she
went to bed she asked the mirror,
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" And each
night the mirror would reply,"You are the fairest of them all."
Page 5
Then one day, the king's sister decided
she was tired of being so nice. She had
always felt like it was too much work to
care so much about other people, and she just wanted to be
the most beautiful woman in all the land. So, she stopped
thanking people or helping people in need in the kingdom.
Page 6
One evening she asked the mirror,
"Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"
And the mirror responded,
"Into this mirror is only beauty that you see but, with her pure heart, Snow-White will always be fairer than thee."
Page 7
The woman was shocked and angry.
"After all the work I've done for the kingdom, taking care of all those people! Ugh, I'll never be queen if Snow-White is still here. I must trick her out of the kingdom!"
Page 8
So, the king's sister set up a plan to trick the loving Snow-White out of the palace. She dressed up as an old woman and found Snow-White caring for the children in the courtyard. She told Snow-White that she had fallen with her brother in the woods and he needed help!
Page 9
Quickly, Snow-White gathered her things and followed
the old woman to the edge of the forest.
"Walk as far as the great pine tree."
Said the old woman
"And cross over the river.
You will see him
resting near the
stone wall."
Page 10
So, Snow-White set off into the woods.
She walked and walked and finally passed the great pine tree.
As she carried on even further the skies began to grow dark.
Page 11
She could not see a river and then, all of the sudden; she heard a loud noise come from behind her. Snow-White was so startled that she ran as fast as she could.
Page 12
When she grew tired she realized she
was far into the woods and now
very lost. She did not know
what to do. She looked ahead
and through the darkness she
could see a tiny house with
lights in the windows.
So she walked towards it.
Page 13
When she came to the door she could see through the window and she saw seven little dwarfs sitting around a table enjoying their dinner.
Page 14
Snow-White knocked on the door and one
of the little men answered.
"Hello, I am Snow-White," said Snow-White almost
out of breath, " I am lost and I can not find my way back
to the King's palace. Would you be so kind as to help me?"
Page 15
The little man smiled, "My dear girl, of course! You look frightened, has something happened?"
Page 16
"I was trying to help an old woman from the courtyard. She told me her brother had fallen in the woods and needed help."
Page 17
"Well," said another little man from the table "we have been out all day in the woods and haven't seen a soul! Come in and rest yourself and we can help you back to the palace after you have spent some time here. You are very far from the kingdom and it will take at least a day to get back."
Page 18
So, the lovely Snow-White was welcomed
into the dwarfs' home for dinner.
Page 19
When she awoke in the morning the dwarfs had made her a delicious breakfast. She saw that there were seven dwarfs all together and it appeared that they were getting ready to go somewhere. She was a bit worried and asked them, "Where are you going?"
Page 20
"To work my dear!" answered one of the younger men. "We must work in the woods and in the caves near by for another three days and when we are finished we can show you the way back to the kingdom."
Page 21
"Three days!" cried Snow-White "My father will surely be worried about me!"
"Don't fret Snow-White. Make yourself at home and enjoy your time, we will be home by sundown. But most importantly, do not answer the door to any strangers while we are gone."
And with that the seven little dwarfs were out the door.
Page 22
Snow-White looked around at
the little chairs and little table
and gratefully ate her breakfast
off of a little plate.
Page 23
Meanwhile, back at the palace, the King was very worried about Snow-White. He was asking everyone if she had been seen the day before. He sent out many men on horses and told people across the land to look for the beautiful Snow-White.
Page 24
The king's sister found out that she had not returned from the forest and rushed to her room. Huffing and puffing she asked the mirror, "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"
She thought for sure if Snow-White had disappeared from the palace she would for sure be the fairest, but the mirror replied...
Page 25
"Far away from the king's hand,
Snow-White is still the
fairest in the land."
"What?!"
The king's sister was furious.
Page 26
She asked the mirror,
"Where, where mirror is the fairest of them all?"
The mirror replied,
"Deep in the woods with little men, Snow-White the fairest is staying with them."
Page 27
The king's sister decided she needed to find Snow-White so she could trick her out of the kingdom for good. She came up with an idea to poison an apple and then give it to Snow-White. The poison would put the fair Snow-White to sleep and she would never wake up on her own.
Page 28
She disguised herself as an old man this time and headed into the forest.
Page 29
Oh No!
Will the King's evil sister
give the apple to Snow White?
Will Snow White fall
asleep forever?
