Itch. Itch. Tickle. Tickle. Something is creeping up
big Bear's back. Bear starts to scratch and scratch.
“Who's there?” he growls.
Page 2
A tiny voice buzzes out of
Bear's fur. “Please don't use
your claws,” says Bee. “It hurts.”
Page 3
“A bee!” screams Bear. He rolls
in the dirt. He tries to shake the
bee out of his fur.
Page 4
“Please,” bumbles Bee. “I need your help! I lost my way home.
Can you take me to my hive?"
Bear scratches his head. “What if you sting me?” Bear asks.
“I barely know you. Why should I help?”
Page 5
“Because,” Bee buzzes, “if you
help me, I'll help you. You'll get
lots of honey. We can be
friends.”
Page 6
Bear thought for a minute. He loved honey.
If he helped Bee, he could lick up the sweet stuff.
Page 7
“Okay,” Bear agrees. “I'll take you there, friend. Hang on tight!”
Bear tumbles through the woods. Bee hangs onto Bear's fur.
“Are we there yet?” she buzzes.
Page 8
They reach the hive. Bee's family is happy to see her.
They are not happy to see Bear.
They get their stingers ready.
Page 9
Bee stops them. “I lost my
way home,” Bee hums.
“Bear brought me back.
He is my friend!”
Page 10
“That was very sweet of you, Bear,” Bee's mom bumbles.
“Would you like some honey, Honey?”
Page 11
Bear licks up the honey.
“Now that's what I call
sweet!” he says with a
sticky smile.
