When pandas go to school,
they help one another.
But Liam and Ling would
rather not bother.

The pandas all gather by a big bamboo tree.
"Let's count the leaves," Teacher says.
"How many can you see?"

But Liam is bored. Ling is too.
"Let's run off and play. There
are more fun things to do!"
Page 4
So Liam and Ling sneak off from
school. They don't care at all
that they're breaking a rule.

They see Tiger and Leopard planting a tree.
They sing while they work. They love to be free.
"You're working too hard," Liam says. "Why not quit?"
"We're having a good time!" Tiger says. "We'll keep at it."

Next, Liam and Ling meet a
playful otter. She's swimming
and diving with her friends
in the water.

"That looks like fun," Ling says with a grin.
"We're catching our dinner," Otter calls out.
"Come on in!"

But Liam and Ling just want to have fun.
They don't want to help out, so onward they run.
"There's no one to play with," Liam says with a pout.
"Everyone's working. I feel completely left out!"

Wise Crane comes out from
behind a large tree.
"Take a look at your friends.
I think you'll agree…"

"They all found a way to make their work fun.
They do it together and don't stop 'til they're done."

Liam and Ling run back to their school.
"We're sorry we left!" Ling says.
"We think helping is cool!"
"Why don't we make this a game?"
Liam then cries.
"The one who finds the most leaves
gets a surprise!"

And in no time at all,
their work is all done.
The surprise, Liam finds,
is that he had lots of fun!
