Many years ago, a little girl lived in a small house in the woods with her mother, father and her little brother.

This little girl loved to play soccer. In fact, she was the best soccer player in her class.

On her birthday,
her parents gave
her a soccer ball.
"You can play with it outside," they said, "but don't play soccer in the house."
Page 4
At first, the little girl played outside with her new soccer ball. But one day, when it started to rain, she took the ball inside the kitchen...and started playing.

At first, everything went perfectly. She was doing small kicks, and the ball didn't go very far. Then, she decided to show off with a great big kick.
Page 6
The little girl kicked her soccer ball so high and so far that it sailed into the next room and broke her mother's favorite glass lamp. The lamp shattered into a thousand pieces!

When her mother heard the crash, she came running into the living room.
"Who did this?" she asked. "Did your little brother break my lamp?"
Page 8
At first, the little girl wanted to say yes. That way, she wouldn't get in trouble. But after a moment she said, "I cannot tell a lie. I broke your beautiful lamp by playing soccer inside the house."
Page 9
"Well, you shouldn't have done that," her mother said. "But I am very proud of you for telling the truth."

From then on, the little girl never kicked a ball inside her house. She grew up to be a great leader- and she never, told a lie.
