One day Henny Penny was picking up corn in
the corn-yard when - whack! -
something hit her upon the head.
"Goodness gracious me!" said Henny Penny.
"The sky is falling, I must go tell the King."

So she went along and she went along until she met Cocky Locky.
"Where are you going, Henny Penny?" said Cocky Locky.
"Oh, I'm going to tell the King that
the sky is falling," said Henny Penny.
"May I come with you?" said Cocky Locky.
"Certainly," said Henny Penny.

So Henny Penny and Cocky Locky
went to tell the King the sky was falling.

They went along and they went along until they met Ducky Lucky.
"Where are you going to,
Henny Penny and Cocky Locky?" said Ducky Lucky.
"Oh, we're going to tell the King that the sky is falling,"
said Henny Penny and Cocky Locky.
"May I come with you?" asked Ducky Lucky.
"Certainly," said Henny Penny and Cocky Locky.

went to tell the King the sky was falling.

They went along and went along until they met Turkey Lurkey.
"Where are you going to, Henny Penny,
Cocky Locky and Ducky Lucky?" said Turkey Lurkey.
"Oh, we're going to tell the King that the sky is falling."
said Henny Penny, Cocky Locky and Ducky Lucky.
"May I come with you?" said Turkey Lurkey.
"Certainly," said Henny Penny, Cocky Locky and Ducky Lucky.

Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and Turkey Lurkey
went to tell the King that the sky was falling.

They went along and went along until they met Foxy Woxy
and Foxy Woxy said to Henny Penny, Cocky Locky,
Ducky Lucky and Turkey Lurkey, "Where are you all going?"
Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and
Turkey Lurkey said to Foxy Woxy,
"Oh, we're going to tell the King that the sky is falling."

"Well," said Foxy Woxy licking his lips
"I know a faster way to the King. Follow me and I can show you."
"Oh, certainly!" said Henny Penny, Cocky Locky,
Ducky Lucky and Turkey Lurkey.
So they went along and went along until
they came to Foxy Woxy's house.

At Foxy Woxy's house Foxy Woxy said in a suspicious voice,
"Follow me into my cave, I'll show you the short-cut."
Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and Turkey Lurkey
looked into Foxy Woxy's cave and then at each other.
"That doesn't look like a short way to the palace, Foxy Woxy,"
and just as they said it, they heard a barking.
It was the King's hunting dogs! They chased Foxy Woxy
far far away until he was never heard from again.

Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and Turkey Lurkey
stood in awe as the King descended from his carriage.
"I heard from my animal kingdom that the Fox had tricked
you into believing the sky was falling Henny Penny! I've
brought you this gift to prevent it from happening again."
The King handed Henny Penny a beautiful umbrella, wrapped
in a bow. "Now when you are in the cornyard, this umbrella will
block any tiny objects that may fall from a tree, on your head."

The next day, Henny Penny was once again picking corn
in the cornyard, but this time, she had her umbrella
opened over her head. Even while she was picking,
if -whack!- something fell from a tree, she didn't mind,
as it rolled right off of her umbrella.
In fact, Henny Penny hardly noticed at all.
